Profile
The Department of Nano-Technology is established very recently and it is at the initial stage. The laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science subjects etc., are being established with the financial support given by State Government and Departmental grant. The broad objective of the 5 year integrated M.Sc.,(Nano-Technology) course is to provide young men and women with opportunities to acquire the skills and expertise essential for their growth in recent scientific and technological areas.
The factors which motivated Nano- science teaching in this university are as follows.
1). The intense and rapidly growing interest in Nano science and technology internationally.
2). The enormous industrial potential foreseen for Nano science and technology.
3). The need to educate students and motivate them to equip themselves to explore new ideas in Nano Science and technology so as to realize the potential in this field.
4). The desire to foster new, interdisciplinary interactions leading to new, unforeseen
opportunities for creativity and innovation.
5). The need to fill the gap that exists between so called basic research and applied research and to find ways to increase cooperation between these sectors.
