The Department of Biotechnology was established in December, 1994 and running M.Sc and M.Tech Biotechnology and M.Sc. Nanobiotechnology programs. The Department of Biotechnology has been funded by UGC and DST-FIST and developed as one of the well equipped self sufficient department with good infrastructural facilities. Recently, DBT, New Delhi has sanctioned the DBT-National Bioinformatics Facility to this department. The department is offering research programs leading to M.Phil and Ph.D in Biotechnology. Infrastructural facilities: The Department of Biotechnology has got sufficient laboratory and class room space for various academic and research activities in different specialized areas such as, Plant tissue culture, Animal Cell Culture, Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. The department has got good computational facility through DST-FIST computer centre and National Bioinformatics facility and having good departmental library. The department is well equipped with instruments like Fermentor, UV- Spectrophotometer, High Speed Centrifuge, Gradient PCR, Elisa Plate Reader, Flame Photometer, Nanoparticle analyzer, Nanodrop Spectrophotometer, Ball Mill.
