The man task of our college is to provide information and direction to students about career oriented programmes needed for full fledge Pharmacy practice by having collaborations with Industries and Foreign Universities. University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences congratulates the freshers of the academic year 2014 ? 2015 for choosing Acharya Nagarjuna University for their academic pursuits and wish the fresher?s and seniors a very happy and fruitful stay in the campus. Pharmacy is a versatile, dynamic and increasingly diverse profession, one which creates so many opportunities for service. Pharmacists work in a wide variety of health care settings in the pharmaceutical industry (carrying out a wide range of activities from R& D manufacturing to quality control, packaging, quality assurance etc.,) in practice settings (hospital & community) in academics, regulatory affairs and clinical research. Pharmacists are health care professionals whose professional responsibilities include seeking to ensure that people derive maximum therapeutic benefit from their treatments with medicines. This requires them to keep abreast of development and advances in knowledge & technology related to manufacture and use of medicines, professional standard requirements and laws governing pharmacy. In response to increased importance to pharmacy course and demand in public towards this profession, Acharya Nagarjuna University started A.N.U. College of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the academic year 2010-11, recognizing the need of quality pharmacy education at university level. All the courses and programmes running at Acharya Nagarjuna University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences is approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). ? The college has well qualified and highly dedicated teaching staff (17 members with 6 doctorates and remaining pursuing their Ph.D.) and also committed non-teaching members. It has state of art laboratories and library with good number of books (500 titles, 3500 volumes) and journals (34 National and International journals). ? A seminar on ?Plastic Pollution in the Environment? was organized on 15th April, 2011 with the speaker Prof. Swami, Dept. of Environmental Sciences which was sponsored by Lifelong Learning Department, ANU. ? A seminar on ?Stress Management? was organized by the psychologist on 8th July, 2011 at the college. ? As a part of National Pharmacy Week (NPW) celebrations a seminar was organized on ?Research Methodologies in Pharmaceutical Sciences? delivered by Prof.K.P.R.Chowdary Retd. Principal, Andhra University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences. NPW celebrations were conducted during 20th ? 27th November, 2011. Various programmes organized for students were ? Essay Writing / Elocution Competition ? Pharma Rally ? Pharma Quiz ? Singing Competition ? Dance Competition ? Medical Camp / Health awareness programmes ? Sports and Games. The winners were given prizes by the Additional Drug Controller, Guntur ? UGC sponsored National Seminar on ?Innovative Research and Development in Pharmaceutical Sciences ? Current Scenario and New Horizon? was organized on 9th -10th December, 2012. The Vice ? President, Hetero drugs Hyderabad attended as Chief ? Guest and delivered key note address. The other resources persons who holded the plenary sessions are from Novartis, IICT, Dr.Reddy Laboratories, MYLAN Laboratories and Derrigolabs, Hyderabad. Deputy Drug Controller Sri.A.Chandra Sekhar Rao was the Chief ? Guest for valedictory function and addressed the students. More than 700 students from 25 colleges across the state participated actively and presented papers. ? One day National Seminar on ?Drug Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance? was organized on 8th February, 2013 which was sponsored by Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE). General Manager, RA CHEM, HYDERABAD attended as Chief ? Guest and Dr.Sridhara Changanti, Senior Manager, Laila Neutraceuticals, Vijayawada was the resource person. Dr.G.Ramaraju, Director, Laila Group of Companies was the Chief ? Guest for valedictory function. More than 500 students participated and presented the papers. ? A two day National Seminar on ?New Trends in Molecular Medicine and Pharmacogenomics? was conducted on 13th and 14th April 2013 organized combined with Pharma Aspirants and Royal Diagnostics and Research Centre Vijayawada. Doctors and Pharmacists actively participated and presented their research papers. ? A Seminar on ?Drug Abuse and its Implications? organized on the eve of International Day against ?Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficiking? on 26th June 2013. The speakers were Dr.K.Vijay and Sri. K.Phani Kumar, Assistant Professors, ANUCPS. ? A Two Day UGC sponsored National Workshop was organized on March 14th and 15th at ANU College of Pharmaceutical Sciences on theme ?Role of Modern Instrumentation Techniques In Current Concoepts of Pharmaceutical Sciences?. Staff members, students and representatives from various industries were participated & exhibited latest equipment like stability testing apparatus, dissolution and disintegration apparatus, FTIR, UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, HPLC and conducted experiments to check adulteration in food items and natural products purity and solubility of various medicines. ? Acharya Nagarjuna University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized ?CPCSEA- Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India? sponsored National Workshop on ?Experimental Pharmacological Techniques? during April 28th ? 29th, 2014.The workshop was inaugurated by chief guest Smt. Prema Mohan, Under Secretary, CPIO, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India.Which evoked tremendous response from the students of different affiliated colleges. Experiments demonstrated in the workshop included Animal handling techniques, biological sample collection, in vitro tissue isolation, Anti inflammatory activity, Analgesic activity, Anti histaminic activity etc., 250 students from 25 affiliated colleges, staff from all the departments participated in workshop which served to elicit latent talent in them.Senior Professors from Andhra University, Kakathiya University, SPMVV and abroad visited the college and addressed our students. ? ANU College of pharmaceutical sciences in association with Centre for HRD organized a one day workshop with the theme ?EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND REQUIRED SKILLS FOR PHARMACEUTICAL STUDENTS? on 26-2-2014. Prof.K.R.S Sambasiva Rao,Rectar, ANU was the Chief Guest. Sri.Koteswararao,Director,Online education, ANU was the resource person. Prof. C .Rambabu, Principal, University college of sciences, ANU, Prof.A.Prameela Rani,Principal,ANUCPS addressed the students. Later certificates were issued. ? UGC sponsored two- day National workshop on ?Intellectual Property Rights and Patent Filing? was organized by Acharya Nagarjuna University College of Pharmaceutical sciences on 25th and 26th march, 2015. Dr.H.Purushotham, Chairman and Managing Director,NRDC (National Research Development Corporation),Ministry of science and technology,Govt .of.india. was the Chief Guest. Sri.T.V.Madhusudan, Deputy controller of patents and designs. Dr.D.T.MohanKrishna, Associate Professor, Pendekenti law College, Hyderabad. Prof.K.P.R.Chowdary, Retd. Principal, University college of pharmaceutical sceiences ,Andhra University , Sri.D.Hanumantha Rao, Ex Director, Drugs control administration, Dr. S.P.Subramaniyan, Asst.Controller of patents and designs,Chennai Sri.S.KoteswaraRao, Projecthead, ANU online education, ANU were the resource persons. Acheivments: ? Our students participated in academic exhibition organized in ANU Campus on December, 2011 and won prizes. ? Our students actively participated in Republic Day and Inpedance Day celebrations organized at Acharya Nagarjuna University and won prizes. ? Around 20 students from B.Pharm and M.Pharm participated in IPC (Indian Pharma Congress) organized during 7th ? 9th December, 2012 and presented papers. ? Staff and students of the college actively participated in the mega awareness programme on the eve of 12-12-2012 and to attempt Gunnies world record in the category of largest ?Bare Foot Walk? organized by NSS unit of Acharya Nagarjuna University. About 200 students participated in this grand event and obtained certificates. ? Our M.Pharmacy (Pharmaceutical Analysis) student Miss B.Sandhya was selected as Drug Inspector in the year 2013. ? Our M.Pharmacy student G.Saritha won 1st prize in Oral Presentation in ?Pharma Rejuvenate ? 2013? conducted by affiliated college of Pharmacy during 15th and 16th March, 2013. ? Our students of IV/IV B.Pharmacy participated in regional level Pharma quiz competition organized by MYBO, Visakhapatnam and won the prize ,the authority, staff and students congratulated the winning team consisted of Ms.J.Jayanthi, Mr.D.Siva, Mr.T.V.Subba Rao and Mr.K.Syam Prasad. ? Our student Y.Jayanthi of IV/IV B.Pharmacy, won 1st prize in oral presentation organized in affiliated College of Pharmacy, Guntur. ? Our student M.Srinivas of I/II M.Pharmacy won 2nd Prize in drawing competition at ?Pharma Fest? organized by affiliated College of Pharmacy, Vijayawada. ? D.Ratna Kishore, NSS volunteer studying M.Pharmacy 1st year in ACHARYA NAGARJUNA UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES participated in NSS ? National level special Adventure Training Camp at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMS), Manali from 1st to 10th January, 2014. ? A team of Acharya Nagarjuna University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences consisting of students of IV B.Pharm & I M.Pharm won I Prize in ?The Pharma Quiz? conducted by Nirmala College of Pharmacy on 23 rd November, 2013. ? GPAT - 2014(Graduate pharmacy aptitude test-test for getting admission in to PG courses inpharmacy) rank holders Y.Jayanthi (176), Shayamprasad(792), AmruthaSonia(3210), Ramyasri(3210),SubbaRao(3377),Shivanaik(4372),Allen(6022),Sarada(664),Subhageetha(5856). ? Ms.P.Pavani Priyanka, student of M.Pharmacy, Acharya Nagarjuna University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences stood first in Poster Presentation for her poster on ?Field Flow Fractionation? in a workshop organized by one of the affiliated colleges with theme ?Innovation and Trends in Pharmaceutical Sciences? on March, 29th, 2014. ? Department of Environmental Sciences, Acharya Nagarjuna University, conducted Essay Competitions on the account of ?World Forest Day Celebrations- 2014? on the topic ?Environmental Protection Force?. Students of ANU College of Pharmaceutical Sciences bagged prizes, Mr.Y.Suresh, M.Pharmacy stood first, Mr.Seshagiri, M.Pharmacy and Ms.D.Girija, 3rd Year B.Pharmacy stood second. ? Mr.L.Surendra and Ms.Y.Sowmya Priya, students of 4th B.Pharmacy bagged 2nd Prize in Debate Competition held on account of Youth Festival organized on 5th and 6th August, 2014 at ANU. ? GPAT - 2015(Graduate pharmacy aptitude test-test for getting admission in to PG courses inpharmacy) rank holders Harshavardhini(811), Bhavitha (1331), KrupaMai (1441), V.Durga Harish (2882), Rajavardhan Reddy (1872), Tanuja (1233), Subba Rao (2005). ? Tanguturi Anantha Sridhar secured 3rd prize in one day workshop on ?Career awareness programme on medical coding and pharmacovigilance in current pharmaceutical market scenario? organized by an affliated college on 1st April 2015. ? Our M.Pharmacy (Pharmaceutical Analysis) student Miss M.Padmini Priyanka was selected as Assistant in RBI in March 2015.
